our blue planet.

Inter-glacial warming.
Global warming harmful ,well it seems to me it depends when you start ! The last ice age ended about 10,000 years ago with inter-glacial warming caused by changes in the sun ,when Iseland and most the UK down to the midlands were covered in great ice sheets. which extended thousands of miles back to the north pole , clearly then the uk was too cold to support life as we know it. Inter-glacial warming changed everything , and over the next 10,000 years the climate warmed by a world average of about 5 degrees C creating the climate we know today .The ice caps retreated over a thousand miles from the uk back to Iceland , and remarkably sea levels rose by a massive 140 metres to create the British isles as we know them today.
On a global scale a whole range of climates were created from tropical to the temperate climate of the uk as the ice retreated from the continents, and with the retreat of the ice to the poles and created our beautiful blue planet we know today. It is also worth noting our temperate climate is a cold climate and most of the year you would not survive outside without protective clothing , something we take for granted -we are a long way from tropical Africa where we evolved.
The inter-glacial period is due to continue for a further 5 to 10,000 years. It is not known (no results from searches), if this will cause any further temp, sea level or climate changes.
Please note the above is quite different to global warming caused by CO2; to date the data shows this to have increased global temp by .8 degree C. and sea levels to rise 10 to 15 cms at Newlyn Cornwall over the last 140 years, and it is predicted that if warming from CO2 continues it will have catastrophic consequences for sea levels and climate.

It is important to keep the two seperate , as clearly inter-glacial warming was/is beneficial , without it we would not exist!
